Somalia’s Minister of Planning and UN Representative Collaborate on Development Objectives

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, H.E. Mohamud Abdirahman Beenebeene, met with George Conway, the Acting Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG), Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of the U.N. Somalia at the Ministry’s headquarters today. The main focus of the high-level meeting was to discuss and collaborate on Somalia’s development objectives.

During the meeting, H.E. Beenebeene and Mr Conway stressed the importance of working together to realize the country’s development goals in line with the government’s priorities and the U.N. Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. They explored numerous ways to work together, particularly on significant areas such as development agendas and economic growth.

While acknowledging that they face challenges, both parties expressed their unwavering commitment to overcoming them through their collective efforts. They agreed that successful collaboration between the government and the United Nations would bring about lasting change and progress in Somalia.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. Mohamud Abdirahman Beenebeene and George Conway expressed optimism that their partnership would lead to positive results. This collaboration promises to empower communities and drive the nation towards new heights of development and stability.
