Biography
Hon Mohamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah (Beene-Beene) is an accomplished businessman and politician with 20+ years of global business management, civic leadership, and legislative experience.
As an entrepreneur, Mr. Mohamud has created and led several successful business ventures in the US and Malaysia. He is the co-founder and former chairman of the Minnesota Somali Chamber of Commerce. In this role, he served as an advisor to emerging entrepreneurs in strategic planning, leadership, and civic engagements. He’s also created bilateral business relations between the global Somali diaspora entrepreneurs.
Mr. Mohamud has been elected twice (2016-2022 and 2022-2026) as a member of Somalia’s federal parliament representing the Hirshabele constituency. Previously, he served as chairman of the parliamentary committee on economy, commerce, industry, and investment. He also served as a member of the parliamentary committee on Somali flood disaster relief and COVID-19.
Mohamud is a proud graduate of the Somali Institute of Management and Administration Development (SIMAD) with associate degree in accounting. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College- University State of New York and an MBA from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate-PhD in Business Management from Gomatika University College in Malaysia.
Mr. Mohamud is 43 years old. He was born in Buule Burte and raised in Mogadishu. He is fluent in English and basic Arabic.
