Mid-year Leadership Retreat of the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development
Saturday, 21st June 2025 – Mogadishu, Somalia: The Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (MoPIED) held a one-day mid-year senior leadership retreat in Mogadishu on Saturday.
The retreat was convened to review and assess the progress made in implementing the National Transformation Plan (NTP) and the Ministry’s annual work plan, as well as its broader mandate.
This retreat was co-chaired by H.E. Mohamud A. Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene), Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development and H.E. Mohamed Adan Mohamed, Deputy Minister.
Also in attendance were the Director General, Mr. Mohamed Shire, Departmental Directors, senior advisors and key staff, whose strategic insights and forward-looking recommendations are instrumental in accelerating delivery across key priority areas. Their contributions were highly valued and integral to the success of the retreat.
Discussions focused on critical strategic milestones, including the implementation of the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029); The Ministry’s Five (5) Year Strategic Plan (2023–2028); Aid coordination and effectiveness; Institutional capacity development; Strengthening International Investment Attraction; boosting the National Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems; Engagement with development stakeholders and post-HIPC economic planning.
The retreat concluded successfully with a shared commitment not only to accelerate the delivery of priority milestones but also to uphold operational excellence. This commitment reassures our stakeholders of the Ministry’s capabilities and dedication to its mandate. Clear follow-up actions were agreed upon to ensure the effective execution of the Ministry’s mandate, particularly the implementation of the National Transformation Plan.
