




Mogadishu, Somalia – October 24, 2024 – The Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (MoPIED) today convened a two-day Validation Workshop to review the National Capacity Development Strategy. Held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu, the workshop brought together representatives from Federal and State government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and academia.
The Director-General of MoPIED, Mr. Mohamed Shire, officially opened the workshop, emphasizing the importance of building institutional capacity to drive Somalia’s sustainable development agenda. He highlighted that the strategy is a key tool for strengthening Somalia’s public and private sectors, fostering economic resilience and long-term growth.
Participants engaged in presentations on the strategy’s key elements, including the implementation plan and resource mobilization, led by experts from Steadman Global. These discussions were followed by active exchanges between stakeholders, who shared valuable insights to help shape the strategy’s final form.
At the close of the first day, Mr. Adow Mohamed Adan, Director of Human Resources at MoPIED, wrapped up the session by summarizing the outcomes and setting the course for the next steps in the strategy’s rollout.
The workshop, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and implemented by Steadman Global in partnership with Devemerge Global, was organized by the Human Resource Department of MoPIED.
