MONTHLY NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2026

INTRODUCTION

In January 2026, the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MoPIED) further strengthened its leadership role in coordinating national development, with a strong focus on implementing the National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029), reinforcing the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework, and enhancing strategic partnerships with development stakeholders.

Throughout the month, the Ministry convened strategic meetings with international organizations including Alight, Medair, Human Appeal, UNFPA, and the European Union. These engagements emphasised aligning development programmes with national priorities, strengthening results-based monitoring and reporting systems, and ensuring transparency and accountability.

The Ministry’s senior leadership also reviewed the 2026 annual work plan to ensure timely, coordinated, and performance-based implementation. Meanwhile, the Federal Government of Somalia and the European Union officially launched a €102 million package to support the implementation of the NTP, reflecting international confidence and strategic cooperation.

This January 2026 Newsletter outlines the actions taken, partnerships strengthened, and ongoing efforts to accelerate results-based planning in order to achieve sustainable development, stability, and inclusive economic growth.
