






Mogadishu, January 7, 2024 – In a grand ceremony held at the Ministry’s compound, the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of Somalia launched its much-anticipated five-year Strategic Plan (2024 – 2028). The event was presided over by the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, H.E. Mohamud A. Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene), alongside his Deputy, H.E. Mohamed Abdkadir Ali, Members of both chambers of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Director-General Mohamed Shire, Directors of Departments, key personnel of the Ministry, and distinguished guests.
In his official capacity, the Minister inaugurated the Strategic Plan, highlighting its pivotal role in overcoming challenges, seizing opportunities, and achieving the Ministry’s ambitious development targets and objectives. H.E. Mohamud A. Sheikh Farah emphasized, “The Plan aims to bolster the Ministry’s capacity, fostering effective sectoral and national development policy planning. By translating high-level goals into actionable initiatives, every employee, regardless of their level within the organization, becomes a crucial contributor to our collective success.”
Further insights into the intricacies of the Strategic Plan were provided by the Director-General of MoPIED, Mr. Mohamed Shire, who played a leading role in its formulation. Shire stated, “A key aspect of this strategic blueprint is its commitment to aligning the National Budget and garnering support from development partners with our national development priorities. This synchronization ensures a cohesive and targeted approach towards our shared goals. Embracing a multifaceted strategy, the Plan integrates planning, coordination, investments, and strategic partnerships. This holistic approach underscores our vision for sustainable national socio-economic planning and development.”
The comprehensive Strategic Plan is meticulously designed to act as a catalyst for the Ministry’s socio-economic development initiatives, paving the way for the realization of its mandate.
