Biography

Hon. Ahmednur Sheikh Mohamed Lohos,  widely recognised as Ahmed Mashruuc, is an experienced Somali politician with over thirty years of leadership in governance, reconciliation, and state-building in post-conflict settings. He currently holds the position of State Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development for the Federal Government of Somalia and is also a Member of the House of the People in the Federal Parliament of Somalia.


A key figure in Somalia’s political transition, Hon. Ahmed Mashruuc has held various senior roles at both national and state levels. During the Somali Transitional Federal Government, he served as Minister of Post, Telecommunications and Technology and was a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2012. In 2014, as an Advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister, he played a role in establishing the national committee that oversaw the formation of the Southwest State of Somalia, marking an important milestone in the federalisation process.


From 2019 to 2022, he served the Southwest State as Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing, and later as Minister of Commerce and Industry, where he championed infrastructure development and economic revitalisation. Earlier in his public career, he was a signatory to the Embagathi Peace Process, which led to the establishment of the Transitional Federal Government, an achievement central to Somalia’s post-conflict recovery.


A graduate of the Jalle Siyad Military Academy with cadet training in military defence, Hon. Ahmed Mashruuc demonstrates a disciplined commitment to national unity, reconciliation, and inclusive development, which continue to inform his public service and leadership.
