August 11, 2026 – The Director-General of the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, Mr. Abdifatah Abdulkadir Farah, received a Qatari Development and Investment Delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.

The delegation was led by Mr. Talal bin Rashid Al-Hajri, Senior Advisor and Assistant Director of the Department of Arab Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Kamal Gutale; the Director-General of the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy, Mr. Abdi Diirshe; the Director-General of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Mr. Yusuf Hassan Isak (Wadani); and other government officials.

The Qatari delegation included representatives from government institutions, the Qatar Fund for Development, food and agribusiness companies, and a medical-supplies company.

Discussions focused on strengthening economic and investment cooperation between Somalia and Qatar and exploring opportunities in livestock, agriculture, fisheries, food production, healthcare, and development project financing.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to deepen the longstanding partnership between Somalia and Qatar, promote productive investment, create jobs, and support sustainable economic growth.
