Somalia Reviews Development Projects Funded by Germany

MOGADISHU, Somalia (MoPIED) — The Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia convened the second session of its review of projects funded by Germany’s development agencies, KfW Development Bank and GIZ, on Sunday.

The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu, was opened by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mohamud Said Nur, and the Director of Aid Coordination, Abdifatah Osman Hassan (Gaandi).

The discussions focused on evaluating the implementation and impact of ongoing projects, with an emphasis on strengthening collaboration between Somalia’s federal institutions and international partners. Key topics included improving accountability, enhancing transparency, and ensuring the quality of priority projects.

The event was attended by officials from federal ministries and local agencies who provided updates on the progress of projects and discussed strategies to enhance their effectiveness.

In closing, participants commended the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Department for its dedication to ensuring project quality and fostering accountability with international partners operating in Somalia.

Germany remains a key development partner for Somalia, supporting the nation through initiatives aimed at institutional capacity building and sustainable economic development.
