Mogadishu – 15 August 2024 – The Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (MoPIED) of the Federal Government of Somalia launched the National Task Force and Stakeholder Engagement Workshop on the National Capacity Development Strategy for Somalia on Thursday.

The workshop, held in Mogadishu, brought together representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), Federal Member States (FMS), Banadir Regional Administration (BRA), Civil Service Commission, civil society organizations (CSOs), Academia, the Chamber of Commerce, and the private sector. The workshop aims to identify institutional and individual gaps that will shape the development of a comprehensive strategy, resource mobilization plan, communication plan, implementation plan, and training module to enhance Somalia’s skills and productivity.

“This workshop is a crucial step toward building the capacity of our institutions and individuals across the country,” said Mohamed Shire, Director General of MoPIED, who officially opened the event. “By working together with stakeholders from various sectors, we can create a roadmap that will maximize our nation’s potential.”

Adow Mohamed Adan, Director of the Human Resources Department at MoPIED, emphasized the importance of collaboration in this effort. “Our goal is to ensure that the strategy we develop is inclusive and responsive to the needs of all sectors in Somalia,” Adan said. “This is about creating a sustainable path forward for our country’s development.”

The workshop will serve as a foundation for a strategic approach to capacity development, aligning with Somalia’s broader development goals.
