Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development Launches Pillar Working Group Meeting for Somalia’s Renewed Partnership of Aid Architecture

Mogadishu, 30, August 2023 – The Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MoPIED) of Somalia marked a significant step towards fostering cooperation and development with the launch of the Pillar Working Group Meeting (PWG) for Somalia’s Renewed Partnership (SRP) of Aid Architecture. The event, held in Mogadishu, was presided over by the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, and saw the participation of Line Ministers of Pillar Working Groups, Federal Member States, and Development partners.

The Somali Renewed Partnership stands as a pivotal initiative designed to cultivate a harmonious environment of collaboration, transparency, and mutual respect. Its overarching goal is to seamlessly align Somalia’s strategic priorities with its development partners’ support efforts.

Over two days, the Pillar Working Group Meeting for Aid Architecture witnessed a resounding success, culminating in a productive session that furthered the spirit of cooperation among all stakeholders.

The technical meeting of the PWG delved into the discussions on the Terms of Reference (ToR) and meticulously laid the groundwork for a strategic work plan. This strategic plan will serve as the blueprint for effective implementation, ensuring that the objectives of the Renewed Partnership are realized.

Speaking on the occasion, The Minister of MoPIED, H.E. Mohamud Abdirahman Beenebeene, expressed optimism, stating, “The Pillar Working Group Meeting is a testament to our nation’s determination to collaborate and innovate for a better future. By uniting Line Ministers, Federal Member States, and Development partners, we are collectively charting a course that aligns with our national priorities while leveraging external support for sustainable development.”

The successful conclusion of the Pillar Working Group Meeting is an encouraging indicator of the positive momentum propelling Somalia’s development agenda.
