Somalia’s Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (MoPIED) of the Federal Government of Somalia organized a food security coordination event focusing on the Economic Development Pillar. The event brought together various Federal Government Institutions, with Mr. Mohamed Shire, the Director-General, emphasizing the crucial role of food security in ensuring access to nutritious food for all citizens.
“We need to strengthen coordination mechanisms to increase productivity and modernize our agricultural practices to ensure food security for all,” remarked the Director -General
Chaired by Mr. Abdu Nasir Omar Katib, the Director of the Department of Economic Development, the meeting featured a report on strengthening food security. Mr Katib underscored the importance of diversifying the economy and investing in agriculture to boost productivity and modernize practices.
The meeting also delved into the Economic Outlook Report, providing a detailed analysis of Somalia’s economy. DG Shire highlighted the report’s significance for investors and policymakers alike.
“The Economic Outlook Report is an essential tool for understanding our country’s economy and identifying areas for growth,” Director Katib emphasized. “It is crucial that we continue to collaborate to enhance our economic outlook and attract more investment.”
In conclusion, the event stressed the importance of cooperation between federal government institutions and Federal Member States to realize economic development goals. It underscored the necessity of joint efforts in achieving food security and economic growth for the benefit of all Somalis.
