Senior Leadership Meeting

The Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia held a high-level meeting chaired by H.E. Mohamud A. Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene). The meeting was primarily focused on discussing critical strategic issues related to the implementation of the Nationa Development Plan (NDP-9) and the Ministry’s five strategic plans, which were launched earlier this year. During the meeting, the leadership also engaged in a detailed resource mobilization strategy discussion, exploring the best possible ways to mobilize resources for the successful implementation of the development plans. The meeting also reviewed the Official Direct Assistance (ODA) analysis report for the years 2022 and 2023 with a view to identifying any gaps and areas for improvement. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the efforts required to achieve the Ministry’s vision and objectives. They explored various measures that could be taken to ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved in a timely and efficient manner. Overall, the meeting was a fruitful discussion of the strategic issues that are critical for the successful implementation of the Ministry’s plans and programs.

Meeting with Parliamentary Sub-Committee

A delegation from the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, led by the Honorable Mohamud A. Sheikh Farah ( Beenebeene), held a highly productive meeting with the Parliamentary sub-committee on Budgetary, Planning, and Accountability of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. During the meeting, the delegation and the sub-committee discussed a range of issues, including the achievements of the Ministry over the past year, plans for 2024, and ways to enhance collaboration between the Ministry and the sub-committee to maximize transparency and accountability. It is worth noting that the sub-committee plays a critical oversight role in monitoring the activities and performance of the Ministry. Therefore, the discussions focused on ways to strengthen the relationship between the two entities and ensure that the Ministry’s operations are aligned with the national development agenda. Overall, the meeting was conducted in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with both parties expressing their commitment to working together towards achieving the economic development goals of Somalia.

Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Exercise

The Monitoring and Evaluation Department under the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development of the Federal Government of Somalia, In collaboration with Monitoring and Evaluation teams from the Federal Government of Somalia, Federal Member States and Banadir Regional Administration of line ministries within the Social Pillar conducted a joint Monitoring and Evaluation exercise in the Federal Member States and Banadir Regional Administration. The main objective of this collaboration was to conduct a joint M&E exercise in the Federal Member States and Banadir Regional Administration to assess the ongoing UNICEF-funded projects. The exercise aimed at measuring the achievements of these projects, identifying the challenges faced, and learning lessons from the experiences. The ultimate goal was to gather recommendations for evidence-based decisions that would help enhance social services across the country. This concerted effort marks a significant step towards improving the quality and effectiveness of social service delivery in Somalia.
