Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of Somalia and USAID Discuss Strengthening Collaboration for Economic Development

The Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (MoPIED) of Somalia, H.E. Mohamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene), had a productive meeting with the Mission Director of USAID Somalia, Sheri Nouane Duncan-Jones. They discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between the Somali government and USAID to facilitate economic development in Somalia. The meeting covered a number of key areas, including developing a post-HIPC (Highly Indebted Poor Countries) plan for economic growth, effectively utilizing the country system, and transitioning from humanitarian aid to development. The minister emphasized leveraging existing strengths to create a sustainable and inclusive economic development strategy. Both parties agreed that the collaboration between the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development and USAID Somalia would be crucial in achieving these objectives. In conclusion, the Minister expressed his appreciation for the support and partnership of USAID Somalia in helping to achieve the economic development goals of Somalia.
